Frequently Asked Questions

  • Making the initial call to seek help for you or a loved one is one of the most humbling, yet courageous steps you can take. Call us at (863) 288-0821 or contact us here.

  • Each counselor will approach the first session a little differently, however we hope each client feels seen, heard and understood.

Intake sessions are different than other sessions as this will be a time when your therapist will strive to understand what is bringing you in to counseling, what you’re hoping for in counseling and what your goals are.

  • We hope that counseling with Porter’s Sound is a collaborative process where the client’s goals and the therapist’s goals for the clients meet.

Depending on the level of care and processing needed clients will typically start with weekly or biweekly sessions and then move to an as-needed basis.

The typical duration of counseling can range anywhere from 3-9 months with some clients seeking long term care that can last over a year long.

  • Our rates range from $120-150 per 50 minute session, depending on the counselor’s experience as well as what type of counseling is needed.

  • We are not an in-network provider for any insurance company, but we do provide a receipt that is compliant with all major insurance companies for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider. You may call your insurance company to see if you are covered for out-of-network services. Many of our clients have been able to seek reimbursement from their insurance company.

  • We believe that the care of the client should be dictated by their needs and values rather than an insurance company. We also believe that our client’s confidentiality is of utmost importance, therefore we have opted to not allow insurance companies to be privy to that information.

  • We desire you to get the care you need regardless of finances. We do offer a sliding scale on a very limited basis. In order to be eligible for financial assistance we do require potential clients to submit a financial assistance form which provides the counselor a snapshot of the client’s monthly income and expenses. Your counselor will also talk to you about other steps you can take by asking your family, support network or church to invest in your healing process.

  • The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 established several new requirements for providers, facilities, and providers of air ambulance services to protect consumers from surprise medical bills. These requirements are collectively referred to as “No Surprises” rules. Among other things, these include prohibiting balance billing in certain circumstances and requiring disclosure about balance billing protections, requiring transparency around health care costs, providing consumer protections related to continuity of care, and establishing requirements related to provider directories.

These requirements generally apply to items and services provided to consumers enrolled in group health plans, group or individual health insurance coverage, and Federal Employees Health Benefits plans. The requirements for transparency of health care costs and the requirements related to the patient-provider dispute resolution process also apply to uninsured consumers.

These requirements don’t apply to people with coverage through programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Indian Health Services, Veterans Affairs Health Care, or TRICARE. These programs have other protections against high medical bills.

If you are a Porter’s Sound Counseling client utilizing your out-of-network benefits, you will have received a good faith estimate prior to beginning services as of January 1, 2022.
